Genus: Ypomonetikochelys SZCZYGIELSKI & DROZDZ, 2026
Etymology:  Greek, ypomonetikos, "patient" and Greek, khersis, "tortoise", the name referes to the extended time from teh disovery of the hootype (1988) to its formal descrption and naming.

Etymology:

Holotype: NHMD 190349 (MCZ field number 22/88g)

Locality: Lepidopteriselv locality, about 200 m south of base camp II, 71°15.86'N, 22°32.37W, Jameson Land, East Greenland.

Horizon: Ørsted Dal Member, Fleming Fjord Formation.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Norian Stage, Late Triassic Epoch, Late Triassic.

Material: A partial shell with associated appendicular elements and incomplete tail.
