Etymology: In reference to the German form of the name Porrentury (Pruntrut), possibly derived from Bruntrutum (meaning abundant springs) (Schweizerische Bundeskanzlei, 2015). This name is also a homage to Jules Thurmann (1804-1855), a renouned local geologist and botanist, for its fundemntal paleontological work Lethea bruntrutana that was published after his death (Thurmann & Etallon, 1861-1864).
