Genus: Elkanemys MANIEL, de la FUENTE & CANALE, 2021
Etymology: Mapuche, elkan, refers to somethign that had been hiddine in mapundungun. This referes to the long time the specimen spent depostied in the Museo "Ernesto Bachmann" collection (since the 1990s) before being recognised as a new taxon of a clade that still not present in Patagonia horizons untile the description of it, and Greek, emys, "turtle".

Etymology: In honor of Peter Pritchard, knowns as "the Turtle God" and named hero of the planet, from Chelonian Research Institute who worked on Pelomedusoides diversity, especially on South America, adn has recently passed away.

Holotype: MMCh-PV 73

Locality: South coast of the Ezequiel Ramos Mexia lake, near El Chocon town, Rio Negro Province, Patogonia, Argentina.

Horizon: Candeleros Formation.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Cenomanian Stage, Late Gallic subepoch, early Gulf Epoch, Middle Cretaceous.

Material: A partially preserved shell including an almost complete plastron excluding the epiplastron and entoplastron and a mostlyecomplete carapace.

Species: caelestis SARDA & MANIEL, 2025
Etymology: Latin, caelestis ( root of the Spanish word 'celeste,'), light blue. The name refers to the charactersitic light blue colour of the fossil specimens form teh Baal localty

Holotype: MUC-Pv 2217

Locality: Baal locality, Northern shore of Barreales Lake, Neuquen Province, Patagonia, Argentina.

Horizon: Portezuelo Formation.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Upper Turonian Stage, Late Gallic Subepoch, Early Gulf Epoch, Middle Cretaceous-Coniacian Stage, Early Senoian Subepoch, Early Gulf Epoch, Early Late Cretaceous.

Material: Articualted shell.
