Genus: Eileanchelys ANQUETIN, MARRETT, JONES, MOORE-FAY & EVANS, 2008
Etymology: Elean from the Scottish Gaelic word for island, and Greek, chelys, "turtle."

Etymology: In honor of Dr. Michael Waldman, co-discoverer of the Cladach a'Ghlinne locality (together with the late Prof. R. J. G. Savage) and the person responsible for introducing one of us (S.E.E) to the site.

Holotype: NMS G 2004.31.15

Locality: Foreshore at the mouth of Cladach a'Ghlinne, Strathaird Peninsula, Isle of Skyre, Highland Province, Inverness-Shire County, Scotland.

Horizon: Kilmalung Formation, Great Estuarine Group.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Late Bathonian Stage, upper middle Dogger Epoch, Middle Jurassic.

Material: A partial skull.

Paratypes:

NMS G 2004.31.16a: Partial shell missing part of the left side of the plastron, with poorly presered cervical vertebrae and a partial shoulder girdle.

NMS G 2004.31.16b: A complete shell, with poorly preserved caudal vertebrae and a partial right hindlimb.

NMS G 2004.31.16c: A nearly complete carapace.

NMS G 2004.31.16d: Anterior part of a shell and skull.

NMS G 2004.31.16e: A fragmentd skull consiting of he skull rof and part of the anterior palatal area.

Note: May belong to NMS G 2004.31.6c.

NMS G 2004.31.16f: A complete crushed skull.
