Etymology:

Holotype: Museum of the Patronato Alves Ramos, Santa Maria City, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil.

Locality: A cut on the BR-216 highway (outcrop BR-14 in Bortoluzzi and Barberena 1970) nearly 200 meters NW of Cerriquito, Township of Santa Maria, Rio Grande do Sul State, Brazil.

Horizon: Santa Maria Formation (Caturrita Formation?).

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Late Ladinian Substage Late Landian Stage, Uppermost Mid Triassic Epoch, Middle Triassic, or ?Julian Substage, ?Early Carnian Stage, Lower Late Triassic Epoch, Late Triassic.

Material: Fragmentary skull, fragments of jaw and a good part of the postcranial skeleton.
