Etymology: Sharteg-, Mongolia, in reference to the type locality and Greek, -odon, 'tooth'.

Etymology: Derived Mongolian, altai, referes to the aimag ("province"), Gobi-Altai, in which the Shar Teg Beds are located.

Holotype: PSS-MAE 633

Locality: Ulaan Malgait Hills, Shar Teg, Gobi-Altai Aimag, Mongolia.

Horizon: Ulan Malgait Beds (Red Beds).

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Late Jurassic.

Material: A badly damaged skull with cheek teeth and partial right and left dentaries with 3 postcanien teeth each.
