Etymology: Greek, glacialis, "frozen or cold."

Holotype: AMNH 9525

Locality: Thrinaxodon Col. Mount Kenyon, about 7km south of McGregor Glacier and some 14 km west of Shackleton Glacier, in the area between the junction of these two glaciers, at about latitude 85'12'S and longitude 174'19"W, vicinity of Shackleton Glacier, which is about 225 km, east by south of Coalsack Bluff, Queen Maud Mountains, East Antarctica, Antarctica.

Horizon: Fremouv Formation.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Anisian Stage, Lower Mid Triassic Epoch, Early Middle Triassic.

Material: A fragmentary skull and anterior part of lower jaw.
