Genus: Protuberum REICHEL, SCHULTZ & SORES, 2009
Etymology: The generic name referes to the numerous protuberances present on the ribs and ilia.

Etymology: In reference to the Municipality of Novo Cabrais, Rio Grande do Sul State, Brazil; where the holotype was collected.

Holotype: MGB 368/100

Locality: 'Sitio Cortado' outcrop, S29°44'54.4", W53°01'49.4", municipal district of Novo Cabrais, Rio Grande do Sul State, Brazil.

Horizon: Santa Maria Formation.

Biostratigraphy: Dinodontosaurus Assemblage Zone (Therapsida Cenozone).

Age: Early Carnian Stage, Early Late Triassic Epoch, Late Triassic

Material: Skull with most of its dentition but lacking the lower jaw and an articulated series of 19 vertebrae (2 cervicals?, 9 thoracices, 5 lumbar and 3 sacral), including 4 articulated thoracics, 10 lumbar ribs (5 from each side), and 4 sacral ribs (2 from each sie), a fragment of the let ilium and 7 isolated thoracic ribs.

Locality: 'Rincao do Pinahl' outcrop, S29°43'14.8", W53°13'46.8", Municipal district of Parasio do Sul, Rio Grande do Sul State, Brazil.

Horizon: Santa Maria Formation.
