Genus: Probainognathus ROMER, 1969
Etymology: Greek, probaino, “to go before or forward” and Greek, gnathos, “jaw” + us (m): Progressive jaw.

Etymology:

Holotype: La Plata Museum No. 1964-XI-14-7

Locality: 3 km north of the point where the Rio Chanares debouches into the Camo de Talampaya, La Rioja Province, Argentina.

Horizon: Los Chanares Formation.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Ladinian Stage, Upper Mid Triassic Epoch, Late Triassic.

Material: Skull.
