Etymology: Greek, lophos, "crest, comb" and Greek, rhinos, "nose:: Crest nose.

Species: willodenensis SIDOR & SMITH, 2007
Etymology: In reference to the Willodene farm, Western Cape Province, South Africa, on which the specimen was discovered, and Latin, ensis, "place or locality."

Holotype: SAM-PK-K6655

Locality: Farm Willodene, which is part of Beato 238, 32°12'55"South, 21°36'46"E, in Teekloof Pass between the towns of Leeu Gamka and Fraserburg, Beaufort West District, Western Cape Province, South Africa.

Horizon: Hoedemaker member, Middle Teekloof Formation.

Biostratigraphy: Tropidostoma zone.

Age: Tatarian Age, Lopingian Subepoch, Zechstein Epoch, Late Permian.

Material: Anterior half of skull lacking lower jaws and most of palate.

Material:

SAM-PK-K11126: Snout with an almost complete palate, a fragment of the pineal region, a fragment of the occiput around the foramen magnum, and fragments of lower jaw, 11 vertebrae (dorsal and sacral), and the pelvis preserved in articulation, the proximal epiphysis of a femur, one indeterminate long bone diaphysis, and 3 indeterminate bone fragments.
