Etymology: Latin, terminos, "last" and Latin, natator, "swimmer": in reference to the latest known plesiosaur from this area, gender masculine.

Species: ponteixensis SATO, 2003
Etymology: In reference to the locality near the holotype area Ponteix, Saskatchewan, Canada.

Holotype: RSM P2414.1

Locality: A riverside cliff on the eastern side of Notukeu Creek, Ponteix, 49°46’20”N, 107°26’20”W, southwestern Saskatchewan Province, Canada.

Horizon: Bearpaw Formation.

Biostratigraphy: Either Baculites cuneatus or Baculites reesidei zone.

Age: Upper Campanian Stage, Upper Senonian Subepoch, Upper Gulf Epoch, Late Cretaceous.

Material: Skull partly disarticulated vertebral column, incomplete pectoral and pelvic girdles, fore- and hind limbs, disarticulated ribs and gastralia and gastroloths.
