Etymology: In reference to the Sanchiao in Guizho Province, China, and Greek, sauros, “lizard”: Sanchiao lizard.

Etymology:

Holotype: IVPP V 3228

Locality: Near the Jinzhong Bridge, in the suburbs of Guiyang City, Chinchungchiao, Sanchiao in the vicinity of Guiyang, Guizhou Province, China.

Horizon: Member 1, Guanling Formation.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Anisian Stage, Lower Mid Triassic Epoch, Early Middle Triassic.

Material: Ventral side of skull and lower jaws, 1 isolated tooth and most part of the postcranial skeleton.
