Locality: North-west corner of Blackven Water, 1/2 mile west of the Char, Lyme Regis coast, Pinhay Bay- Charmouth, (SY 3291-SY 3794), Dorset County, England, Southern United Kingdom.
Horizon:
Biostratigraphy: Caenisites obtusum zone.
Age: Hettangian-Pliensbachian Stage, Lower Lias Epoch, Early Early Jurassic.
Material: Skull and skeleton missing most of the paddles. (Now Destroyed)
Plaster Casts of the original skeleton are in the British Museum (Natural History) BMNH R 1338 and BMNH R1339, and in the Oxford University Museum J. 10334/P and J1335/P.
