Etymology: In memory of the amateur paleontologist Aleksei Savvich Arkhangelsky,
who collected many unique paleontological specimens in the Volga Region, and
Greek, sauros, 'lizard'.
Species: karnoushenkoi SENNIKOV & ARKANGELSKY, 2010
Etymology: In honor of E. P. Karnoushenko, who transferred the skeleton described
to Saratove State University.
Holotype: SGU, no. 104a/36
Locality: Franz Josef Land, Island of Wilczek Land, north of Cape Ganza, Ganza Anticline, Artic Russia.
Horizon: Wilczek Formation.
Biostratigraphy:
Age: Lower-Middle Norian Stage, Late Triassic Epoch, Late Triassic.
Material: Unidentifiable fragments of skull bones, incomplete vertebral column,
ribs, coracoid, pubis, humerus and femur.
