Genus: Tendaguripterus UNWIN & HEINRICH, 1999
Etymology: Combination of Tendaguru, the type locality in Tanzania and Greek, ptero, “wing”: Tendaguru wing.

Species: recki UNWIN & HEINRICH, 1999
Etymology: In honor of Hans Reck, who was the first to describe pterosaurs from Tendaguru.

Holotype: MB.R.1290

Locality: Excavation site Jb (Wj), Tendaguru, Tanzania.

Horizon: Middle Saurian Beds.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Kimmeridgian-Tithonian Stage, Middle-Upper Malm Epoch, Late Jurassic.

Material: Incomplete section of the mandibular symphsisis with teeth.
