Etymology:
Latin, spatha, "spatula" and Latin, gnath, "jaw".
Species: roeperi FERNANDES, TISCHLINGER, ROTHGAENGER & RAUHUT, 2025
Etymology: In honor of the late Martin Roper, long term director of the Bürgermeister-Müller-Museum in Solnhofen and leader of teh escavations at the locality Brunn since early 1990's.
Holotype: SNSB-BSPG 1993 XVIII 1006
Locality: Brunn quarry (a small stone pit at the "Kohlstatt locality") between the villages of Brunn and Wischenhofen, Upper Palatinate, Eastern Bavaria State, Germany.
Horizon: Ebenwies Member, Torleite Formation (Rhytmic Plattenkalk [Solnhofen Lithographic Limestone])
Biostratigraphy: Beckeri-zone, Subeumela subzone.
Age: Late Kimmeridgian Stage, Middle Malm Epoch, Late Jurassic.
Material: Fragment of anterior part of a maxillopremaxillary rostrum with tooth row.
