Etymology: in honor of Lev Nesov (1947-1995). Note: The correct Russian spelling
of Nessov is with one 's'.
Note: The above authors believed Samrukia to
belong to a bird, but Buffetaut, 2011 (which came out before Naish et al,
though Buffetaut
did
refer
to their
paper) places Samrukia into pterosauria
Holotype: WDC Kz-001
Locality: Dzhusalin or the Nizhnesyrdr'in uplift, Akkurgan, Northeast of the Aral Sea, Southern Kazakhstan.
Horizon: Bostobinskaya Formation.
Biostratigraphy:
Age: Santonian-Campanian Stage, Senonian Subepoch, Gulf Epoch, Late Cretaceous.
Material: Mandibular ramus.
