Etymology: Greek, phobos, “fear.”
Note: The name Phobeter was changed by Bakhurina, N. N., 1986. Priroda. Akademia Nauk SSR, Moscow (according to Wellnhofer, 1991) I have not seen this article.

Locality: 70 km NNE of Lake Khara-Us-Nur, Khovd Aimag, Mongolia.

Horizon: Tsagan-tsab Formation.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Berriasian/Valanginian Stage, Lower-Middle Neocomian Subepoch, Lower Early Cretaceous Epoch, Early Cretaceous.
Note: Large shallow lake deposit.

Material: Carpal, proximal end of metacarpal IV, proximal end of phalange digit, proximal of right radius, proximal end of left tibia, proximal end of left femur and distal end of left femur.

Referred material:

Locality: Dry river bed north of lake Hara-Us-Nur in the Tatal region, which lies in part of the Sangin-Dalay-Nur Depression, Mongolia.

Horizon: Tsagan-tsab Formation.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Berriasian/Valanginian Stage, Lower-Middle Neocomian Subepoch, Lower Early Cretaceous Epoch, Early Cretaceous.

Material: Postcranial remains of at lest 30 individuals discovered in 1984, 14 more in 1985 and in 1988 remains of a relatively small pterosaur were found. Several skulls were also found.
