Genus: Ludodactylus FREY, MARTILL & BUCHY, 2003a
Etymology: Latin, ludus, "game, play," referring to the predictive toy pterosaure, a case whee fantasy preceded Palaeontological evidence, and Greek, dactylus, "finger."

Species: sibbicki FREY, MARTILL & BUCHY, 2003a
Etymology: In honor of John Sibbick, an artist who has recreated many pterosaurs.

Holotype: SMNK PAL 3828

Locality: Chapada do Araripe Basin, Ceara State, North East Brazil.

Horizon: Nova Olinda Member, Crato Formation.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Aptian Stage, Middle Gallic Subepoch, Uppermost Early Cretaceous Epoch, Early Cretaceous.

Material: Skull and partial crest.
Note: A lancoeolate leaf wedged between the mandibular rami suggests the cause of death.
