Genus: Laueropterus HONE, 2026
Etymology: In honor of Rene and Bruce Lauer of the Lauer Foundation for Paleontology, Science and Education and the work they have done to make fossils, and especially Solnhofen region specimens, available for publich study, without thier work, a numbr of important specimens might never have become available to sicned and Greek, pterus, "wing"; Lauer's wing.

Species: vitriolus HONE, 2926
Etymology: Ancient Greek, vitriolus, “acid”, in reference to the unusual pitting and holes seen in the elements of the skeleton that look as if they have been dissolved away.

Holotype: LF 6268

Locality: 'Private section' of the Schaudiberg Quarry, near the town of Mülheim, Bayern (Bavaria) State, Germany.

Horizon: Mörnsheim Formation, 3 m below the "Rhamphodactylus."

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Lower Tithonian Stage, Upper Malm Epoch, Late Jurassic.

Material: Skull and skeleton.
