Genus: Ceoptera MARTIN-SILVERSTONE, UNWIN, CUFF, BROWN, ALLINGTON-JONES & BARRETT, 2024
Etymology: Scottish,cheo or ceo, "mist", in reference to the common Gaelic name for the Isle of Skye Eilean a' Cheo, or Isle of Mist, and Latin, ptera, "wing": a commong suffix in pterosaur names.

Etymology: In honor of Prof. Susan E. Evans for her many years of anatomical and paleontological research, in particular on Skye, and in introducing us to this locality, thereby making this find possible.

Holotype: NHMUK PF R37710

Locality: Cladach a'Ghlinne, north of Elgol, Inverness-Shire County, Highland Province, Isle of Skye, Scotland, northern United Kingdom.

Horizon: Kilmaluag Formation, Great Esturine Group.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Bathonian Stage, Dogger Epoch, Middle Jurassic.

Material: An associated partial skeleton in three contiguous blocks consisting of: seven vertebrae (four dorsals, one caudla, and two that are too poorly preserved to identify with certanity), fragments of the sternum and pelvis, a complete scapulocoracoid, and multiple elements of the forelimb (including wrist bones and a complete wing-metacarpal) and hind limb.
