Genus: Camposipterus RODRIGUES & KELLNER, 2013
Etymology: In honor of Brazilian paleontologist Diogenes de Almeida Campos, who made valuable contributions to the knowledge of pterosaur diversity in Brazil and was a major influence to us (Rodrigues & Kellner), and Greek, pterus (from the Greek pteron), 'wing'.

Etymology: Greek, kolobos, "stunted" and Greek, rhinus, “the nose.”
