Etymology: Kairi, bakiribu, "comb", in allusion to the typical comb-like dentition of ctenochasmatids.

Etymology: Kairi, waridza, "mouth". Together, the bionomial name not only highlights the distinctive dental morphology of the taxon but also hnors the cultural heritage of the Kariri people, Indigenousinhabitants of the region where the fossil was discovered.
Holotype: MCC 1271-Va/MPSC 7312a, b, c
Locality: Unknown, outcrops east-west along the Araripe Plateau between the states of Pernambuco, Ceara, and Piaui, Araripe Basin, Brazil.
Horizon: Romualdo Formation.
Biostratigraphy:
Age: Late Aptian-Early Albian Stage, Middle Gallic Subepoch, Upper Early Cretaceous Epoch, Early Cretaceous.
Material: A partial rostrum.
