Etymology: Latin, bellator, "warrior or fighter"; in tribute to the people of Rio Grande do Sul, honouring thier historial resilience adn enduring spirit, particularly in light of the reent severe flooding that has impacted the state.
Holotype: CAPPA/UFSM 0506
Locality: "Posto" locality, about 200 m north of RS 348 road, within the western outskirts of Dona Francisa, from two different large rivines; 29°37'38"S, 53°22'07W (MCN PV 10105) and 29°37'36"S, 53°22'02'W (MCN PV10004), Rio Grande do Sul State, Brazil.
Horizon: Alemoa Member, Santa Maria Formation, Rosario do Sul Group, Pinheiros-Chiniqua Sequence, Santa Maria Supersequence.
Biostratigraphy: Dinodontosaurus Biozone.
Age: Ladinian Stage, Upper Mid Triassic Epoch, Late Triassic.
Material: A parital lower jaw, 2 cervical adn 3 dorsal vertebrae and a right ilium.
