Etymology: In reference to the Vyatka River, where the specimen was found, and Greek, suchos, “crocodile”: Vyatka River Crocodile.

Species: sumini TATARINOV, 1995
Etymology: In honor of D. L. Sumin, one of the organizers of excavations of Kotel’nich-2 locality.

Holotype: PIN No. 2212/13

Locality: Kotel’nich Locality (or Kotel’nich-1), about 20 km between the village of Shestakovy and the village of Vishkil’, Kotel’nichskii District, Kirov Region, Eastern European Russia.

Horizon: Vanyushonki Member, Vyatka Formation (Tatarian Series, Upper Severodvinian Substage, Severodvinian Horizon).

Biostratigraphy: Sokolki Faunal Assemblage, Kotelnich Faunal Subassemblage, Zone IV.

Age: Lowermost part of the Upper Tatarian Age, Lopingian Subepoch, upper Zechstein Epoch, Late Permian.
