Genus: Jinyunpelta ZHENG, JIN, AZUMA, WANG, MIYATA & XU, 2018
Etymology: Mandrin, Jinyun, in reference to Jinyun City in which the type locality is located and Latin, pelta, "small shield," in reference to teh osteoderms found on all ankylosaurians.

Species: sinensis ZHENG, JIN, AZUMA, WANG, MIYATA & XU, 2018
Etymology: The root of the specific name Greek, sin, referes to China, the country of origin.

Holotype: ZMNH M8960

Locality: Lijin Indutral Park, Huzhen Town, Jinyun County, Zhejiang Province, China.

Horizon: Liangtoutang Formation.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Albian-Cenomanian Stage, Upper Gallic subepoch, Lowest Gulf Epoch, Late Early to Early Middle Cretaceous.

Material: An almost complete skull, and a partial postcranial skeleton including some cervical, dorsal and sacral vertebrae, partial tail club knob, dorsal ribs, right scapula, partial right manus, left ilium, both ischia, left femur, osteoderms adn numerous small postcranial ossicles.
