Genus: Varanosuchus POCHAT-COTTILLOUX, LAUPRAERT, CHANTHASIT, MANITKOON, ADRIEN, LACHAMBRE, AMIOT & MARTIN, 2025
Etymology: Owing to its superfical resemblance to a monitor lizard (Varanus), and Greek, souchos, "crocodile".

Species: sakonnakhonensis POCHAT-COTTILLOUX, LAUPRAERT, CHANTHASIT, MANITKOON, ADRIEN, LACHAMBRE, AMIOT & MARTIN, 2025
Etymology: In reference to the province of Sakon Kakhon, Thailand, wehre the holotype adn referred specimens were found.

Holotype: SM-2021-1-97/101

Locality: Phu Sun Locality, near Mueang Sakon Nakhon, Sakon Nakhon District, Thailand.

Horizon:Sao Khua Formaton, Khorat Group.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Barremian Stage, Lower Gallic Subepoch, Middle Early Cretaceous Epoch, Middle Early Cretaceous.

Material: Almost complete skull, lackign its anteriormost part (anteior part of premaxilla and nasal), with associated mostly complete postcranial skeleton, including the axial column and osteoders. It lacks the pectoral girdle (except for the coracoid) ane all the forelimbs. The pubis, tibia, figula, and digit are the only element sknown from the pelvic girdle and the hindlimbs.
