Etymology: In reference to the county of Uberaba, Minas Gerais State, Brazil, where the specimen was found, adn Greek, souchos, "crocodile."

Species: terrificus DE SOUZA CARVALHO, RIBEIRO & DOS SANTOS AVILLA, 2004
Etymology: Referes to a terrible, predatory animal.

Holotype: CPPLIP no. 630

Locality: Outcrop 1 in Serra do Veadinho, Caieira, 4 km north of Peiropolis, 19°43.24', 6"S, 47°44.45'4"W, Uberaba County, Minas Gerais State, Brazil.

Horizon: Serra da Galga Member, Marilia Formation, Bauru Group.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Late Maastrichtian Stage, Senonian subepoch, Upper Gulf Epoch, Late Cretaceous.

Material: Skull, mandible and part of the axial and appendicular skeleton.
