Etymology: Greek, thilastiko, "mammal" in reference to the mammal-like dentition found in members of Candidondontidae, and Greek, suchos, 'crocodile'.

Species: scutorectangularis de CARVALHO, dos SANTOS, PINTO & SANTUCCI, 2025
Etymology: Latin, scutos, "armour', and Latin, rectangualirs, in allusion to the rectrangualr-shaped dorsal osteoderms.

Holotype: FUP-Pv 000019

Locality: Campo Azul Municipality, Sanfranscasian Basin, Minas Gerais State, Brazil.

Horizon: Quirico Formation.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Barremian-Aptian Stage, Middle Gallic Subepoch, Upper Early Cretaceous Epoch, Early Cretaceous.

Material: Articualted skull with partially complete mandibles and dentition, semi-articualted postcranial skeleton, including anterior appendicular elemetns and osteoderms. .
