Genus: Sissokosuchus WILBERG, HILL, PASCUCCI, ROBERTS, BOUARE & O'LEARY, 2025
Etymology: In honor of the late Dr. Famory Sissoko, an anthroplogist at the Institut des Sciences Humaines, Bamako, Mali who was a key collaborator on the CNRST-SUNY Mali expeditions in 1999 and 2003, and Greek, souchos, "crocodile", in reference to the Egyptian crocodile-headed deity.

Etymology: In referenct to the country of origin of the specimen, Mali, Africa.

Holotype: AMNH FARB 33401

Locality: Localtiy Mali-12-2, 107 km northeset of the town of Tessalit, 20°49.041N, 00°19.857'E, Kidal Region, Republic of Mali.

Horizon: "Continental Intercalaire".

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Aptian-Albian Stage, Middle Gallic Subepoch, Early Cretaceous Epoch, Late Early Cretaceous.

Material: Anterior portion of the right dentary preserving first through fifth alveoli, partial left maxilla and fragmentary jugal, partial left nasal and maxilla, partial right orbital region including portions of the jugal, postorbital, lacrimal, and maxilla, a fragment of skull roof including the dorsal surface of the right postorbital, partial right quadrate and quadratojugal, partial basioccipital, basisphenoid, and right otoccipital, right metatarsal II, 1 sacral vertebral centrum with partial neural arch and sacral ribs, 1 caudal vertebral centrum and 2 fragmentary osteoderms.

Referred material:

AMNH FARB 33402: Partial mandible comprising paired splenials and partial dentaries preserving most of the symphysial region and the fifth through eleventh alveoli.

AMNH FARB 33403: Partial right maxilla preserving maxillary alveoli 3011 and part of the palatal surface, including a single tooth crown at position m9, and an additional fragment of posterior maxilla preserving 2 adjacent alveoli.

AMNH FARB 33437: Partial skull roof preserving paired prefrontals, partial nasals, partial lacrimals, partial maxillae, and part of the frontal and a singual ungual phalanx.
