Etymology: Patago is in reference of Patagonia, Argentina, and Latinised form of the Ancient Greek souchos, "crocodile."

Species: anielensis LIO, AGNOLIN, VALIERI, FILIPPI & ROSALES, 2015
Etymology: In reference to Anelo city, Neuquen Province, Patagonia, Argentina, near where the holotype was found and were it is deposited.

Holotype: MANE-PV 1

Locality: Baal Quarry, Loma de La Lata area, near teh northern coast of Lago Los Barreales, 12 km south of Anelo City, Neuquen Province, Patagonia, Argentina.

Horizon: Upper leveles of the Portezuelo Formation, Rio Neuquen Subgroup, Neuquen Group.

Biostratigarphy;

Age: Upper Turonian Stage, Uppermost Gallic Subepoch, or Coniacian Stage, Lowermost Senonian Subepoch, Lower Gulf Epoch, Early Late Cretaceous.

Material: Fragmentary left dentary and splenial, right maxilla, right jugal, a dorsal vertebra, a dorsal osteoderm and right humerus.
