Genus: Montealtasuchus CARVALHO, VASCONCELLOS & TAVARES, 2007
Etymology: In reference to the Monte Alto County in Brazil, and Greek, souchos, "crocodile."

Species: arrudacamposi CARVALHO, VASCONCELLOS & TAVARES, 2007
Etymology: In honor of Antonio Celso de Arruda Camos, eminent Brazilian paleontologist and professor.

Holotype: MPMA-16-0007-04

Locality: 14 km of Monte Alto, near the border between Monte Alto and Taiacu counties, Sao Paulo State, Southeast Brazil.

Horizon: Adamantina Formation.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Turonian Stage, Uppermost Gallic Subepoch-Santonian Stage, Lower Senonian Subepoch, Lower Gulf Epoch, Late Cretaceous.

Material: Skull, dentary, almost complete axial and appendicular skeleton, and articulated dorsal and ventral exoskeleton (osteoderms).
