Genus: Gasparinisuchus MARTINELLI, SERTICH, GARRIDO & PRADEIRO, 2012
Etymology: In honor of the accomplished vertebrate paleontologist Zulma Brandoni de Gasparini for her prolific work on South American crocodoliforms, and Greek, souchos, with reference to the Egyptian crocodile-headed god Sobek.

Species: peirosauroides MARTINELLI, SERTICH, GARRIDO & PRADEIRO, 2012
Etymology: Perirosauroides, with reference to the significance of the holotype specimen as the basis for the designation of the family Peirosauridae.

Locality: 600 m NE of Pozo LLL Exp (YPF), Loma de La Lata, (75 km northwest to the city of Neuquen), Department of Confluencia, Neuquen Province, northwest Patagonia, Argentina.

Horizon: Bajo de la Carpa Formation, Lower Rio Colorado Subgroup, Upper Neuquen Group.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Coloradoan Tetrapoda Assemblage, Santonian-Campanian Stage, Senonian Subepoch, Gulf Epoch, Late Cretaceous.

Gasparinisuchus peirosauroides (modified from Martinelli et al. 2012).
