Genus: Aphaurosuchus DARLIM, MONTEFELTRO & LANGER, 2021
Etymology: Greek, aphauros, "feeble/powerless" and Greek, souchus, "crocodile." In reference to teh week bite of teh animal as demostrated by Montefeltro et al., 2020.

Species: escharafacies DARLIM, MONTEFELTRO & LANGER, 2021
Etymology: Greek, eschara, "scar" and Latin, facies, "face." In reference to the cut on the left jugal and dentary made by the rock saw during the collection of the specimen, which promptley gave the fossil its nickname "Scarface."

Holotype: LPRP 0697

Locality: Furnas Farm,. ca. 7 km south of Jales, Sao Paulo State, Brazil.

Horizon: Adamantina/Vale do Rio do PeixeFormation, Bauru Group.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Coniacian-Campanian Stage, Senonian subepoch, Upper Gulf Epoch, Late Cretaceous.

Material: Skull and mandible and fragmentary skeleton.
