Etymology: In reference to the type locality, Puesto Almada, Chubut Province, Patagonia, Argentina and Greek, suchus, "crocodile."

Etymology: In honor of the Argentinean geologist Edwardo G. Figari, for his contributions to the knowledge of the geology of the Jurassic sequences in the Canadon Asfalto Basin.

Holotype: MPEF PV 3838

Locality: Puesto Almada locaity, 15 km north of the village of Cerro Condor, Chubut Province, Patagonia, Argentina.

Horizon: Canadon Calcareo Formation/Puesto Almada Member, Canadon Asfalto Formation.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Oxfordian Stage, Lower Malm Epoch, Early Late Jurassic.

Material: Posterior half of skull, fragmentary skull elements, and lower jaws, and fragmentary postcrainum.
