Etymology: Lo-, in reference to the prefecture of Luoyang, where the fossil was recovered, and Greek, theridion, 'beast'.

Etymology: In honor of Dr. Jin Meng for his contributions to the study of Mesozoic mammals.

Holotype: ZMNH M9032

Locality: Haoping Village, Luanchuan County, Luoyang Prefecture, Henan Province, China.

Horizon: Qiupa Formation.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Late Cretaceous.

Material: Nearly complete skull with associated lower jaws.
