Species: simpsoni DATTA & DAUS, 2001
Etymology: In honor of Professor G. G. Simpson who provided a comprehensive description of the tricondonts.

Holotype: GSI Type No. 20795

Locality: 5 km west of Yamanapalli, 19°06’30”N, 79°55’00”E, Pranhita-Godavari valley, Andhra Pradesh State, India.

Horizon: Kota Formation, Upper Gondwana Group.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Late Pliensbachian-Toarcian Stage, Upper Lias Epoch, Early Jurassic.

Material: Right upper molar.
