Etymology: Greek, stenos, "narrow" and Greek, kranio, "skull".

Species: boldi WERNEBURG, WITZMANN, RINEHART, FISCHER & VOIGT, 2024
Etymology: In honor of the late Rudolf Bold from Rammelsbach near Kusel who found the holotype and only known specimen of the Remigiusberg sphenacodontid Cryptovenator hirschbergeri Fröbish et al., 2011, in 2002 (Fröbish et al. 2011).

Holotype: NHMMZ/LS PW 2019/5025 (formelry: uGKU 2564)

Locality: Remigiusberg quarry, northeastern rim of the Remigiusberg (387685 E, 5487644 N, UTM 32U, WGS 84; UGKU L-21), ~ 1 km northeast of Haschbach, Kusel County, Western Rhineland-Palatine State, Germany.

Horizon: Lower Theisbergstegen lake level, middle part of the Remigiusberg Formation.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Gzhelian Epoch, latest Pennsylvanian Subperiod, Latest Carboniferous Period-Asselian Stage, base of the Rotliegendes Epoch, boundary, latest Carboniferous or earliest Permian.

Material: Skull and mandibles.

PAratype: NHMMZ/LS PW 2019/5022 (formerly: UGKU 1998): greater portion of skull roof, parts of the palate with palatine, choana and sseveral pairs of fangs and the mandible, together with a few bones of teh anterior postcranium.
