Etymology: Genus indicates the proximity of the Bromacker quarry to the village of Georgenthal, Thuringa State, central Germany.

Etymology: Latin, clavis, "key" and Latin, nasica, "nostril"; an epithet referring to the unique keyhole-shape external naris.

Holotype: MNG 11135

Locality: Bromacker locality, of the middle part of the Thuringian Forest near the Village of Tambach-Dietharz and about 20 km south of the town of Gotha, Thuringa State, central Germany.

Horizon: Uppermost level of 60 m thick middle sandstone unit, Tambach Formation.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Lowermost unit of the upper Rotliegend Epoch, Early Permian.
