Etymology: Named in honor of the late Dr. John Cosgriff, who contributed much to our understanding of the laybrinthodonts.

Species: campi WELLES, 1992
Etymology: Named in honor of the late Professor Charles L. Camp, who furthered and participated in the work of both COSGRIFF and Welles.

Holotype: UCMP 112135

Locality: Meteor Crater Quarry, UCMP V3835, a low butte on the west side of the road into Meteor Crater, just north of the road leading east to Meteor Crater Ranch, NE 1/4 of SE 1/4, Sec 11, T19N, R12 1/2E, Cocconino County, Arizona.

Horizon: A local fresh-water limestone in the Wupatki Member of the Moenkopi Formation, about 58 feet above the Kaibab Limestone.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Spathian Stage, Upper Early Triassic Epoch, Early Triassic.

Material: Skull lacking posterior end.
