Etymology: In reference ot the Puertollano basin, where the specimens were found.

Ichnospecies: microdactylus SOLER-GIJON, & MORATALLA, 2002
Etymology: Microdactylus referes to the small size of the traces with relatively short dactyl impressions.
= Puertollanopus omicrodactylus SOLER-GIJON & MORATALLA, 2002 (sic).
Note: The ‘o’ is more than likely a typographical error.

Holotype: PU-IC3

Locality: Amphibian bed, above coal seam III, ‘Emma’ Quarry, Puertollano, Ciudad Real Province, Spain.
