Etymology:n Greek, giganta, "giant," Greek, sauros, "lizard" and Latin, pus, "foot."

Etymology: In reference to Asturien, Spain.

Holotype:

Locality: Playa de la Griega, jura-Profil north of Colunga, 300 m east of Rio Libradon, Gijon Province, Asturien, Spain.

Age: Kimmeridgian Stage, Middle Malm Epoch, Late Jurassic.

Material: So called “bipedal” trackway with tridactyle pes tracks, and no record of manus tracks (LOCKLEY, FARLOW & MEYER, 1994).
