Etymology: Greek, di, "two," Greek, lophos, "crest," Greek, sauros, "lizard" and Latin, pus, "foot."

Ichnospecies: williamsi WELLES, 1971
Etymology: Named for Jesse Williams, who found the first dinosaur in the Kayenta Formation.

Holotype: UCMP 79690-4

Locality: UCMP V67239, on the west side of the road to Moenave, 0.15 miles N. of highway to Tuba City, Coconio County, Arizona.

Horizon: Kayenta Formation.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: ?Sinemurian-Pliesbachian Stage, Middle Lias Epoch, Middle Early Jurassic.

Material: A single large tridactyl footprint.

Hypodigm:

UCMP 79690-1, 2, 3: 3 other footprints.
