Etymology: In rference to the place of discovery, the Mount Conero, in the Marche, Central Ialy, on the adriatic coast, and Greek, ichnos, "track."

Etymology: In reference to the impression of the trackway in a mairne aquatic environment of the deep sea, and to the pelagic life conducted by the author of the tracks.

Holotype: In situ

Locality: ON a rock cliff known as the "Placche dei Gabbiani", near teh beach "Due Sorella', at an altitude of about 124 m a. s. l., Conero Natual Park, Sirolo Municipality, Ancona Province, Central Italy.

Horizon: Lower Beds, Maiolica Formation.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Upper Tithoniah Stage, Late Malm Epoch, Late Jurassic-Lower Aptian Stage, Gallic Subepoch, Late Early Cretaceous Epoch, Early Cretaceous.

Material: II imprints in a trackway with body and flippers.

Plastotype: UNICAM, Casts of prints 2, 3 and 6.
