Etymology: In reference to Kimmeridge Bay, England, and Greek, batis, 'ray or skate.'

Species: etchesi UNDERWOOD & CLAESON, 2017
Etymology: Inhonor of Steve Etches.

Holotype: MJML K8874

Locality: East of Kimmeridge Bay, Dorset County, England, Southern United Kingdom.

Horizon: Upper Kimmeridge Clay Formation.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Early Tithonian Stage, Malm Epoch, Late Jurassic.

Material: Incompletely preserved specimen in dorsal view, lacking the tail and parts of the fins of a female.

Paratype: MJML K1984: Incomplete specimen comprising parts of the pelvic girdle and one pelvi fin, both claspters, and parts of the caudal vertebrae of a male.
