Etymology: The genus name is derived from the Fissodus-shaped lower median tooth, with recognition that the Fissodus-shaped tooth is found in many different petalodont dentitions as well as this one.

Etymology: TConnoting the robust median upper tooth and teh robust mineralization of elements of the pharyngeal endoskeleton.

Holotype: CM 62710

Locality: South of Becket, Montana.

Horizon: Bear Gulch Lens Bear Gulch Member, Heath Formation, Snowy Group.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Serpukhovian Epoch, Late Mississippian Subperiod, Early Carboniferous Period.

Mateial: Head, hyoid and branchial arch elements and dentition.
