Genus: Wufengshania PAN, ZHU, ZHU & JIA, 2017
Etymology: In reference to Wufengshan, the fossil site, Yunnan Province, China.

Species: magniforaminis PAN, ZHU, ZHU & JIA, 2017
Etymology: Latin, magnus, "large" and Latin, foraminis, "fenestra or hole"; highlighting the large orbital fenestra of the species.

Holotype: IVPP V 23293

Locality: Wufengshan (close to the Wufengshan cemetery), Wuding, Yunnan Province, China.

Horizon: jiucheng Formation.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Late Emsian Stage, Early Devonian Epoch, Late Early Devonian.

Material: A near-complete skull with a minor part of the right half missing.

Paratype:

IVPP V 23294: A near-complete skull with part of the right lateral plate missing.
