Etymology: In honor of Dr. Richard Barwick, Zoology Department, The Australian National University, for his contributions to the study of fossil lungfish.

Species: downunda LONG, 1992
Etymology: A fortuitous collection of letters.

Holotype: NMV P181782

Locality: Mount Howitt spur Quarry, Victoria State, Australia.

Note: This genus is more prevalent in the upper sections of the Mount Howitt fish beds exposure (snig track-"J{ localities, about 50 m due east of main quarry, as makred in Long, 1983a, fig.1, "locality 8").

Horizon: Lower Mudstone, Avon River Group.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Frasnian Stage, Early Late Devonian Epoch, Late Devonian.

Material: A good skull and check, wiht counterpart showing the palate and dentition.
