Etymology: Greek, palaeo, "ancient" and Greek, onieros, the personification of a dream in Greek mythology.

Etymology: In honor of Jennifer Clack and Rob Clack, in recognition of thier contribution to the fossil record of vertebrates from teh Devonian and Carboniferous.
Holotype: MCZ VPF-5114 (part and counterpart)
Locality:Warren, Warren County, Pennsylvania.
Horizon: 'Chemung"
Biostratigraphy:
Age: Late Devonian.
Material: A nearly complete fish missing snout, anterior portion of lower jaw and caudal fin.
