Genus: Francischanos RIBEIRO, BOCKMANN & POYATA-ARIZA, 2022
Etymology: Francis-, is taken from "Sanfranciscan Basin", where the fossils come from, and -chanos, is a sustantive in apposition, that comes from the family type genus, Chanos, which it is closely related to.

Locality: Outcrop at Fazenda Sao Jose do Geriba, Varjao de Minas, Minas Gerias State, Brazil.
Horizon: Quirico (old Areado )Formation.
Biostratigraphy:
Age: Aptian Stage, Middle Gallic Subepoch, Late Early Cretaceous Epoch, Early Cretaceous.
Material: Nearly complete specimen.
